Trip to Kazbegi
The tour starts in Tbilisi, the sunny and beautiful capital of Georgia. Next to the capital of Georgia is located Mtskheta, with a magnificent view of the ancient monastery of Jvari, which itself overlooks the confluence of Mtkvari and Aragvi.
The route leads to Dariali gorge along the former military road of Georgia. You will see the large and picturesque Zhinvali Reservoir and here located one of the most powerful hydroelectric power stations in Georgia.
Zhinvali is followed by Ananuri Castle, which serves as a defense from the north of Transcaucasia since the 16th century. In 1795, the guards of this castle resisted the troops of Agha Makhmad Khan who invaded Georgia and did not allow them to climb the valley.
Then, the route goes to the Dariali gorge, to the northern border of Georgia, passing through Dusheti municipality at an altitude of 1000-1500 meters. Dusheti is considered the birthplace of the famous Georgian dish, khinkali.
The main destination of the trip is the city of Stepantsminda, or, as it is commonly called, Kazbegi. The place, Kazbegi, was named after the Georgian writer Aleksandre Chofikashvili, who created famous works such as "Khevisberi Gocha", "Elguja", and "Eliso" It so happened that he borrowed the pseudonym "Kazbegi'' first from his father, and then left the name to the city and the glacier.
There is a lot to see here. On the one hand, the city is overlooked by steep, inaccessible cliffs, and on the other side by the Caucasus mountain range, which is embellished by the magnificent glacier Kazbegi, rising to a height of 5033 meters. This is one of the highest peaks of the Caucasus range, which is very popular among climbers.
Before you go and see Gergeti Monastery or on the route back, we recommend you stop at Rooms Hotel Kazbegi to relax and take a bite. They have a beautiful restaurant with a magnificent view. Cuisine - One of the best.
The last stop is the Monastery of Gergeti. On the foot of the mountain, at an altitude of about 2400 meters, there is the ancient monastery of Gergeti, which is one of the famous UNESCO sites of Georgia.
You will get unforgettable memories, and take great pictures and videos. And, of course, you will enjoy the main dish of Georgian mountain cuisine - khinkali. Khinkali is nowhere as tasty as here.
